Apple targets the young and educators with $199 post apps bundle

Jim Dalrymple of The Loop reports that Apple have announced a $199 bundle for those in education and teachers that includes full versions of applications usually priced at a total of $629.95:

The apps include Final Cut Pro X ($299.99), Logic Pro X ($199.99), Motion 5 ($49.99), Compressor 4 ($49.99), and MainStage 3 ($29.99).

A saving of $429.96.

The Pro Apps Bundle for Education is available for teachers, faculty, staff, and college students, as well as K12 and HiEd institutions.

Note that these are not student versions of these applications. This is a bundle of codes that are used on the Mac App store to download full retain versions. Since 2011 Apple haven’t charged for updates. This means that if students take advantage of this offer and move into post production, they will probably not need to pay any more money for the professional tools they use to earn money.

No UK educational bundle for professional applications has been announced yet. Final Cut Pro X retails for £299.99. The educational price is currently £270.
